SMOOT (aka TOOMS) Cover The Mint Chicks' 'Welcome To Nowhere'

C.C. / Wednesday 8th April, 2020 10:10AM

Fresh outta quarantine following their debut trip to the States but still stuck at home, Tāmaki Makaurau noiseniks TOOMS have unleashed a cover of The Mint Chicks' isolation anthem 'Welcome To Nowhere', for you to thrash out to as you pace around the lounge for the 15th time today. Credited to new moniker SMOOT, the team of Dorian Noval and Nich Cunningham are joined by Jeff Henderson (Superstarz) on "sax, squawks & ducks," sounding fun, fresh-faced and totally jaded at the same time as they rip through the Nielson bros' timely anthem. Does this mean there'll be more kiwi covers on the way from SMOOT?

"We have clearly had too much time on our hands: Here's a cover we made which seemed appropriate, or obvious or both.

It doesn't really sound like Tooms so we very creatively came up with the pseudonym SMOOT."
