MarineVille Release 'Semiotic Rock' + 'Timeless Love' Compilations

A.K. / Thursday 7th May, 2020 11:36AM

Pōneke group MarineVille are showing off their prolificacy and marking more than two decades of rocking out this week with two mammoth compilations out via local imprint Epic Sweep Records. Semiotic Rock hosts 15 killer MarineVille 'best of' tracks released between 2001 and 2017, whereas Timeless Love treats fans to a hefty stack of live recordings from practice sessions and shows across their formation in 1999, up to 2015. Fronted by Mark Williams of Cookie Brooklyn And The Crumbs, the band has seen 11 core members come and go, with many former Flying Nun alumni contributing to its sound, and currently boasts members Greg Cairns (Verlaines, King Loser) and Denise Roughan (Ghost Club, The 3Ds). Williams set out digitising CD-R’s, cassettes and VHS tapes to celebrate the MarineVille milestone, and has also put together a digital history of the band, which he describes as “more of a random compilation of weird encounters with the music industry and urban gentrification.” Dive into the best of and the best kept secrets of Marineville...

MarineVille collections 'Semiotic Rock' and 'Timeless Love' are out now via Epic Sweep Records.
