Benee Drops Single 'Night Garden' Ft. Kenny Beats, Bakar
A theme of creepy crawlies and spooky stalkers appears to be emerging from Benee's catalogue, with new drop 'Night Garden' telling a story of paranoia and late night fears in a similar vein to previous singles 'Monsta' and 'Evil Spider'. This is the first song the young star (and recent APRA Silver Scroll Award shortlister) recorded outside of Aotearoa, and her first collaboration with LA producer Kenny Beats, who's worked with heavy hitters like Denzel Curry and Rico Nasty. Of the process she said, “It was awesome working with him, he was so fast making the beat that it was also probably the fastest I have ever had to write a song ha ha!”, which might explain the familiar lyrical content to 'Monsta'. UK artist Bakar chimes in with his own scary story in bars alluding to the Garden Of Eden and dating Dracula, somewhat lightening the unsettling mood set by Benee's resignation to being suffocated in her sleep. Benee embarks on a mostly sold out New Zealand tour this October, a suitably spooky month for her fondness of the sinister. Groove along and lock your doors to 'Night Garden'...
