Watch Seven Part Docoseries 'NZ Hip Hop Stand Up'

Annabel Kean / Thursday 23rd July, 2020 1:43PM

In the 30 years since Upper Hutt Posse dropped their iconic rap track 'E Tū', the Aotearoa hip hop community has soared, made history and cemented the genre in our national identity. NZ Hip Hop Stand Up explores the ins and outs of seven trailblazing tracks that defined our hip hop journey from 1988 to 2019, with raw, frank interviews from Ladi 6, Scribe, King Kapisi and more, all under the direction of award winning music video creator Chris Graham. Interviewees stare straight down the barrel of the camera, and are given the space to reminisce and reflect without censorship, all made possible by NZ On Air's Innovation Fund and RNZ's platform and support. The series is easily binge-able, rewatchable and sharable, providing vital documentation of one of the most important facets in New Zealand music history. Get started with episode one here...
