Wax Chattels have revealed a second stunner from their forthcoming new album Clot, the genre-defying team of Amanda Cheng, Peter Ruddell (Sulfate) and Tom Leggett's taut and jagged new single 'Efficiency'. True to its word, the tightly-packed tune barrels through an array of raw textures and feelings in less than three minutes with zero fat on the bone, underpinned by steely-eyed ruminations on the politics of conversation from co-vocalists Cheng and Ruddell. Director Ezra Simons (Earth Tongue) provides starkly monochromatic visual accompaniment to 'Efficiency' with eye-zapping animated flourishes by Neirin Best, created with the support of NZ On Air, whetting our appetite for more live appearances from the recently reactivated Tāmaki Makaurau trio.

Wax Chattels explained the themes explored on their latest single: "Efficiency’ is about the frustration felt when you force yourself to bite your tongue, instead of escalating uncomfortable conversations into confrontations. It's about biding your time, finding the right time and place to express your concerns — and with this song, it's about coming to the bleak realisation that, more often than not, nothing will ever change."

'Clot' is out on Friday 25th September via Captured Tracks & Flying Nun Records, preorders are now available here.
