Don McGlashan & The Others Nationwide Tour Announced
Don McGlashan has revealed a run of live appearances across Aotearoa this October and November backed by The Others, an all-star trio featuring Shayne P. Carter (Straitjacket Fits, Dimmer), Chris O'Connor (The Phoenix Foundation) and James Duncan. The co-founder of The Mutton Birds, Blam Blam Blam and The Front Lawn has gifted such indispensable anthems upon the world as 'Dominion Road', 'There is No Depression in New Zealand', 'When You Come Back Home' and 'Bathe in the River' [side note: I overheard at the supermarket last night a customer whistling 'Nature', and I'd bet good money it was the Mutton Birds version of the Fourmyula classic].
For these shows, Don McGlashan will be playing "new songs from his next, soon-to-be-recorded album" alongside gems from his formidably deep back catalogue, and with The Others bringing their own inimitable on-stage energy to the tunes you're looking at gigs to remember. McGlashan lifted the lid on what gig-goers can look forward to, along with a bit of stick thrown in Shayne P. Carter's direction for the recent award-winning success of his must-read memoir Dead People I Have Known...
"We'll definitely be road-testing an album's worth of new songs, plus stomping purposefully through those parts of my back catalogue that everyone can agree on... There'll also be a lot of loud guitar, although Shayne is an award-winning author now, so he may just want to sit in a plush leather chair on stage, looking thoughtful and taking questions from the audience.”
