Cabaret Voltaire Announce First Album In 26 Years + Unveil Single 'Vasto'
Formed all the way back in 1973, Cabaret Voltaire have reemerged with the announcement of Shadow of Fear, the pioneering Sheffield electronic / industrial project's forthcoming first studio album release in 26 years dropping in November. Now solely helmed by co-founder Richard H. Kirk, first single 'Vasto' from Cabaret Voltaire's new record delivers an appropriately dark dose of mechanical rhythms and ominous pounding pulses, sure to find a happy reception amongst club-going creatures of the night. Well known to Aotearoa listeners for Kora! Kora! Kora! (The Cabaret Voltaire Versions), their 2008 collaborative release with Whakatane's Kora, Richard H. Kirk opened up about the return of Cabaret Voltaire...
“The album was finished just as all the weirdness was starting to kick in... Shadow of Fear feels like a strangely appropriate title. The current situation didn't have much of an influence on what I was doing—all the vocal content was already in place before the panic set in—but maybe due to my nature of being a bit paranoid there are hints in there about stuff going a bit weird and capturing the current state of affairs.”
'Shadow of Fear' releases on Friday 20th November via Mute.
