Watch LILSTIFFY's Video For 'Firebase' Feat. Tender Moonlight
Aotearoa electronic artist LILSTIFFY has revealed a self-directed video for 'Firebase', drawn from his club-igniting recent five track Dependency EP. Created in collaboration with synth-pop crooner Tender Moonlight earlier this year while both artists were still based in Japan, LILSTIFFY's visuals were shot in areas of Tokyo which would usually be buzzing with locals if not for Covid-19, conjuring dreamy sensations both light-hearted and eerie. The first release from Pyramid Club's Unmaking the Near Future lockdown commissions project, you can experience Tender Moonlight's performative response to 'Firebase' below — styled by Brandon Sayring, filmed by Bridget Tyson and "edited during the couple's 2 week quarantine upon their return to NZ".
Brandon Sayring explained the context in which the video was created: "this music video was shot in areas of Tokyo that used to be crazily packed and which virtually became ghost towns in the depths of the first wave of Covid19. After case numbers started to become manageable, the government allowed izakayas [little bars] to open up again but they had an 8pm curfew. The bar featured in the video was my local and the regulars became my small bubble during that time."
Lilstiffy's 'Dependency' EP is out now via Pattern Recognition.
