Kevin Morby Announces New Album 'Sundowner' + Unveils Single / Video 'Campfire'
Remember those halcyon days when overseas artists could visit and perform in Aotearoa? While Kevin Morby's 2018 Auckland co-headline show with Waxahatchee currently feels like it was a lifetime ago, thanks to the magic of computers we can enjoy the gentle guitar-strumming, ramblin' splendour of 'Campfire', the first tune shared from the Kansas City-based songwriter's new album Sundowner launching in October. Split down the line in two halves, 'Campfire' leads with Morby's wistful Dylan-esque twang pondering "where have all my friends gone?", while roaming a beautiful desert landscape in directors Johnny Eastlund and Dylan Isbell widescreen accompanying visuals, and dancing with his partner Katie Crutchfield (Waxahatchee) in the clip's heartwarming concluding passage. While international touring is off the table for the time being, fans can look forward to a "virtual tour" from Morby, where he'll perform "his complete discography in chronological order, culminating in a performance of Sundowner the day before the album’s release" — happening via Noon Chorus every Thursday from 10th September.
'Sundowner' releases on Friday 16th October via Dead Oceans.
