Listen To Riki Gooch & Alistair Fraser's Album 'Rangatira'

Chris Cudby / Thursday 3rd September, 2020 10:57AM

A meditative and deeply felt collaboration between Pōneke multi-instrumentalist Riki Gooch (Cave Circles, DJ Oboe) and taonga pūoro practitioner Alistair Fraser, their new collection Rangatira was recorded in dedication to mutual friend Eddie Tutaki, who originally introduced the two artists. Presenting seven tracks exhibiting "the visceral beingness felt in grief; drawing our attention to inner cycles of acceptance/non-acceptance, flurrying emotions, and continual movement between material/spiritual realms during our mourning process," Rangatira is the latest in a diverse and sonically boundless run of releases from Aotearoa / Te Moana Nui a Kiwa imprint Noa Records. Head over their website here to learn more about the record, order yourself (or a friend) a limited edition 'Rangatira Purple' cassette including micro-poster with words and photography ("purple being connected to the energy of Rangatira") via their Bandcamp page here, and open your ears to Gooch and Fraser's universe of sounds below...

Noa Records are curating a stage at The Others Way 2020 festival on Friday 11th September, featuring Hasji, LEAO, Leda’s Dream, Schofield Strangelove and Whyfi — tickets available HERE via UTR.
