Thurston Moore Unveils 12 Minute Track 'Siren' From Upcoming Album 'By The Fire'
Sonic Youth co-founder Thurston Moore has unfurled an twelve minute "soundtrack to an ancient mermaid ritual" named 'Siren', the latest single revealed from the massively influential noise guitarist and singer's umpteenth album By The Fire, launching in late September. Sounding unmistakably like Moore from the get-go, 'Siren' begins with his band of Deb Googe (bass), James Sedwards (guitar) and drummer Jem Doulton journeying unhurried through jangle-rock territory, gathering heft like a rolling katamari before diving into stranger sonic depths — surfacing for air with a poetic closing passage featuring lyrics by transgender writer Radieux Radio. There's an aptly mesmerising video for the song as well, that you'll have to head over to Moore's Bandcamp page over here to view in full. Take in the pioneering US artist's latest epic and check out the teaser clip for 'Siren' below...
'By The Fire' releases on Friday 25th September via The Daydream Library Series.
