Glass Vaults Announce 'Sounds That Sound Like Music' Album Release Tour

Chris Cudby / Thursday 17th September, 2020 11:24AM

Releasing their avidly-awaited third studio album Sounds That Sound Like Music in October, psychedelic-pop explorers Glass Vaults are celebrating in style with a nationwide launch tour hitting the four main centres this summer. We've already heard the dancefloor-friendly, future-pop grooves of teaser singles 'Flat White Boy' and 'Oils and Perfume' from the core team of Richard Larsen, Bevan Smith, Rowan Pierce — who've upped the ante even further with fresh visuals for the former tune, continuing the group's fascination with dance culture with footage of a 2016 Northern Soul event in Blackpool, courtesy of online archivist George 'Jud' Foster (who has a YouTube channel featuring over 5000 Northern Soul clips, plus more you can dig into here).

Recorded all throughout our fine land "including a lake house in Taupō and a cabin in the mountains of Arthur’s Pass," Sounds That Sound Like Music features guest contributions from local heavy hitters Cory Champion (Borrowed CS), Erika Grant (Orchestra of Spheres), Tom Callwood (Phoenix Foundation), Charlotte Forrester (Womb) and Gemma Syme (Instant Fantasy). Preorder a limited edition yellow vinyl LP copy of the the record direct from the source here, rejuvinate your senses with the new clip for 'Flat White Boy' below and catch Glass Vaults in action at the following dates...

Press release:

Celebrating the release of their third full length album, Sounds that Sound Like Music, euphoric explorers Glass Vaults are touring New Zealand this December.

Over the past decade, Glass Vaults have produced a stream of music and transcendental live performances which have developed into a unique brand of psychedelic-pop. Their new album, Sounds That Sound Like Music, pushes deeper into the realms of dreamy disco-funk. STSLM was written and recorded at a series of retreats, including a lake house in Taupō and a cabin in the mountains of Arthur’s Pass, and includes guest appearances and collaborations with Cory Champion (Borrowed CS), Erika Grant (Orchestra of Spheres), Tom Callwood (Phoenix Foundation), Charlotte Forrester (Womb) and Gemma Syme (Instant Fantasy).
