Alien Weaponry To Tour Aotearoa In November & December

Chris Cudby / Tuesday 29th September, 2020 8:00AM

Inarguably the loudest trio ever to explode out of Northland, Waipu thrashers Alien Weaponry will be storming across Aotearoa on their long-awaited Level One Tour, happening in November and December. Now signed with RSE Group (Slayer, Mastodon, Gojira), brothers Henry and Lewis de Jong with new recruit Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds on bass are primed to take over with their earthshaking anthems sung in both te reo Māori and English that proudly "whakapapa back to stories of their ancestors", showcased on their breakout 2018 debut album . Recognised as a formidable force in international heavy metal, Alien Weaponry are already well-travelled tour veterans despite their youth, as demonstrated by documentaries Rū Ana Te Whenua: Alien Weaponry Shake Europe and Live At The Auckland Town Hall - I Roto I Te Reo Māori — the latter launched earlier this month to help raise awareness for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori (Māori Language Week).

Maximising their lockdown time to write and record an upcoming album set to drop in 2021, these shows will be the first chance fans will get to hear the group's new material live. You'll be kicking yourself if you miss Alien Weaponry, with yet to be revealed special guests at the dates below...

Press release:

Waipu’s favourite sons Alien Weaponry are heading out on the road this November and December for the Level One Tour.

Fresh from a newly inked management deal with RSE Group (home to metal greats Slayer, Mastadon, Ghost and Gojira), Alien Weaponry are armed with new music and a crushing live show.

Known for their emphatic, energetic thrash metal songs that whakapapa back to stories of their ancestors, Alien Weaponry are set to conquer Aotearoa this Summer. Beginning in Tauranga, The Level One Tour will see Alien Weaponry on their biggest New Zealand tour yet, playing six shows throughout Aotearoa, finishing up at Auckland’s Powerstation, the first time the band have headlined the iconic venue.

Heralding in a new era for Alien Weaponry, this will be the first time on the road with new bass player Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds, a long-time friend of the band and former classmate of drummer Henry de Jong.

Whilst 2020 may not have been the touring heavy year the band had in mind, they have used this time to write and record a new album which is due for release in 2021. New Zealand fans will be the first in the world to hear new material from the forthcoming album live, alongside favourites from their award winning 2018 debut Tū.

The Level One Tour announcement comes two weeks after an iconic performance at The Auckland Town Hall was released for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori. Recorded in February of this year, the performance captures the bruising spirit of Alien Weaponry live and was presented by the band in both Te Reo and English.

Tickets are on sale 12pm Thursday 1 October from Fans are encouraged to move swiftly to secure tickets.
