Cut Off Your Hands Share Final Album 'HLLH' + Video
Cut Off Your Hands cap off a sensational career spanning nearly fifteen years with their third studio album HLLH (Higher Lows and Lower Highs), launching in conjunction with send-off parties in Tāmaki Makaurau and Pōneke. Years in the making and recorded in collaboration with producer / multi-instrumentalist Jeremy Toy (Leonard Simpson Duo), HLLH really does sound like a definitive statement from the band who started out way back when as Shaky Hands — wearing their love for dance-infused post-punk sonics proudly on their sleeves with welcome excursions into into noisey shoegazey territory, as singer / guitarist Nick Johnston tackles lyrical themes both personally weighty and politically pointed.
We chatted with Johnston about the new record and the multitude of triumphs and challenges he faced with Cut Off Your Hands over the years, you can read his in-depth conversation with Chris Cudby right here. Check out Connor Crawford's live photos and Ali Nicholls' incisive review of COYH's packed out headline event at Whammy Bar last week here, experience director Benjamin Zambo's eye-popping new animated visuals for ‘Live For Each Other’ made with the support of NZ On Air below, and don't miss them for a last hurrah with eight piece live band at the following dates...
