Miles Calder 'Lake Geneva' Single Release Shows Announced
Pōneke songwriter and former frontman of The Rumours, Miles Calder is forging new creative pathways with a three date tour of the North Island this December, celebrating this coming Friday's launch of his second single 'Lake Geneva'. That song follows October's debut solo offering 'Take Me Back to How It Was', a psych-tinged and dreamily reflective number hinting at Lynchian depths while showcasing Calder's spellbinding vocal / guitar talents. Calder will be joined on stage by live band including Nick George (drums), Steve Moodie (bass), Chris Armour (guitars) and Dayle Jellyman (synths, electric piano) for his summer jaunt, promising to captivate attendees with a panoramic sound ranging from "urgent chomping rocknroll to floating atmospheric ballads"...

Press release:
Pōneke-based songwriter Miles Calder and his band are performing three shows in December in celebration of the atmospheric new single 'Lake Geneva': a melancholic march delivered as a knowing sigh of acceptance.
This striking new song follows up the psychedelic single 'Take Me Back to How It Was' released in October. Four years on since his last outings with former backing band The Rumours, Calder’s revived sound shelves folk-tinged rock to explore swirling psychedelia on often personal and self-reflecting songs.
Written at the same time as ‘Take Me Back to How It Was’ when feeling “lost and isolated” while living in Switzerland, 'Lake Geneva' is about surrendering to the inescapable march of time and change. With melancholic verses that give way to spacious choruses, Calder's reverb-drenched vocals float in the space, recognising the coming flood, - “Saw the darkness in the deep, oh lord / I swear Lake Geneva rose right over me,” before crying slide guitar and watery synth crash back in.
Inspired by early-70's Lennon as much as contemporaries like Kevin Morby and Father John Misty, this is music for intimate listening; spacious, hypnotic, dreamy, and deeply honest.
Miles will be joined by his 5-piece band, including long-time collaborators Nick George (drums) and Steve Moodie (bass), along with electrifying recruits Chris Armour (guitars) and Dayle Jellyman (synths, electric piano). The new live band show ranges from urgent chomping rocknroll to floating atmospheric ballads.
