Earth Tongue Unveil Video For 'Astonishing Comet'

Masters of earthshaking sonics and eye-popping visuals, Earth Tongue reveal a thrilling self-directed analogue clip for the duo's searing cosmic anthem 'Astonishing Comet', from their 2019 debut album Floating Being. Melding the spine-chilling psychedelia of vintage European horror with the Aotearoa rocky shore psychic vibeyness of something akin to Under The Mountain, Earth Tongue's new video is an otherworldly experience indeed, created with the support of NZ On Air. The formidably talented pair of Gussie Larkin (Mermaidens) and Ezra Simons continue their spring tour of our nation this weekend, taking over Wellington's San Fran on Friday with ONONO before setting their sights on the rest of the North Island in the weeks ahead...

"Ezra and I took a trip to the isolated west coast of the Far North armed with a Super8 camera and not much else. We had scoped out the boulder and mars-like landscapes on a previous trip and knew we had to immortalise them in another self-directed Earth Tongue video. We both got sunburnt spending the day walking around different coastlines gathering footage.

Back in the big city we hired Whammy Backroom for a day and shot a few more rolls on Ezra’s 16mm Bolex camera. We love the look of the various film stocks being cut together, resulting in a mind bending collage of psychedelic Sci-Fi goodness, paying tribute to the weird world of 1970s cinema. Don’t touch the comet!"
