Mara TK Drops Single 'Met At The River' Feat. Xenia Manasseh

AK / Friday 20th November, 2020 12:17PM

Pour yourself a delicious cup of Mara TK's debut solo single ‘Met At The River’, spiked with the dulcet tones of Kenyan neo-soul singer Xenia Manasseh. Known in Aotearoa as the front man of beloved group Electric Wire Hustle, along with killer recent collabs with Borrowed cs,  Mara TK steps out on his own this year, and joins label and social enterprise Extra Soul Perception. This first taste is also the lead single to a full-length solo album, which is due out next year, and just from ‘Met At The River’ I can tell it'll be a totally swoon-worth collection of rich, soul tracks. If the new single doesn't quite satisfy your Mara TK fix, look no further than the ‘Met At The River’ B-side; a jazzy piano version sung just by the man himself. Despite the silky instrumentation and stacks of warmth, Mara TK explains the less than rosy story behind the song:

“This song took ten years to write because that was the life span of meeting someone wonderful, making babies and then fucking it all up - and finally feeling like you are all gonna be straight after all that shit. This song was therapy that didn’t cost me $200 an hour”.

Sink into the half-toned, neon-splashed visuals for ‘Met At The River’...

Mara TK’s debut solo album is out in 2021 via Extra Soul Perception.
