Primer: Come Together - NZ Supergroup Playing Albums By Neil Young, Dire Straits, The Beatles
An Aotearoa supergroup resembling a small army of familiar faces will be enthralling crowds across the nation with the songs of Neil Young, Dire Straits and The Beatles, on three back-to-back Come Together tours from November to January 2021. Performing the aforementioned rock icons' respective classic albums Live Rust, Brothers In Arms and Abbey Road, track-by-track in full plus a selection of hits and deep cuts, Come Together's all-star bill includes Liam Finn, Jon Toogood, Tami Neilson, Samuel Flynn Scott, SJD, Delaney Davidson, Mel Parsons, James Milne (Lawrence Arabia), Finn Scholes (Carnivorous Plant Society), Nick Atkinson (Love Square) and lots more, brought together by musical director Jol Mulholland — described by none other that Neil Finn as having "talent exuding from every pore".
The first trio of Come Together events happens this week, celebrating Dire Straits' MTV era-defining 1985 record Brothers In Arms with headline events at Wellington's Opera House, Christchurch's Isaac Theatre Royal and Auckland's The Civic. The second Beatles-themed round of shows is happening pre-Christmas in December, while the concluding Neil Young concerts will bring the summer heat in mid-January. Attendees are advised that "variations of this line-up will be performing at each album concert" — you can check over on the website here to stay in the loop with who'll be playing at each extravaganza.
