Neive Strang Shares Single 'Sick Love Tick' + Announces Release Tour
Dunedinite Neive Strang has been quietly releasing music over the past three years, and while she may have managed to sneak two albums past us, this time we've caught her red handed. Her new single 'Sick Love Tick' is a folk-rock track to raise and sway a lighter to, with soulful bass from Zion Berwick, epic Jack Wing guitar jangle, and percussion and harmonies from Benny Holloway. Any fans of Angel Olsen will easily latch onto Strang's powerful songwriting chops, not to mention her massive vocal range that'll blow you over by the first chorus and lift you back up through the crash and release outro. Now that this is your new favourite song, you only have two months to wait before catching Strang and band on their summer single release tour, plus a couple of dates supporting DOONS. Press release:
trace / untrace is excited to announce the release of Neive Strang's new single Sick Love Tick. Sophisticated and soulful, the track alternates between the soft rolling gait of neo-country indie, and gritty choruses which showcase Neive's powerful voice. Originally written on piano, Neive remarks "the song naturally became more rocky with the band, but you can still hear the original piano line reminiscing in the background."
The band won the single recording time at Chicks Hotel with Tom Bell as a part of their first place prize for OUSA's Bring The Noize competition. Being their first in-studio recording, Sick Love Tick stands out as a more polished addition to Neive's back catalouge.
Next year Neive and her band are taking their music to crowds across Aotearoa in support of the new single. With the full momentum and well-oiled tightness of a band fresh from the studio, the group are a must-see this summer!
Catch Neive Strang and her band at one of their 5 dates across the country next year.
