The year's not over yet folks. Mermaidens have gifted us something huge to look forward to in 2021, announcing their very own Mermgrown festival will be happening in Pōneke this coming February. After an earlier version was sadly cancelled back in March due to Covid, the Taite nominated team of Gussie Larkin, Lily West and Abe Hollingsworth have assembled a fresh bill of local buds to strut their stuff at their hometown's Workingmens Bowling Club. The sonically adventurous initial lineup features Motte, Zero Cool, WOMB, electronic artist Ludus (who organised the excellent Artists In Residence compilation of lockdown tunes) and of course Mermaidens themselves — plus a bar, yum food to munch on and more big surprises on the way. How's that for a summer cliffhanger? Grab tickets while you can for the inaugural, all-ages Mermgrown event...

The one-day outdoor festival will take place on Saturday 20th February 2021 at the iconic Workingmen’s Bowling Club in Newtown, Wellington. Alongside Mermaidens, this year’s Mermgrown lineup features Pōneke heartthrobs WOMB, violin-witch Motte, very cool band Zero Cool, sonic spellcaster Ludus, and many more to be announced.

Expect some new bangers from Mermaidens, who scooped up nominations at the Aotearoa Music Awards and the Silver Scrolls this year. Mermgrown 2020 sold out within weeks of being announced, so don’t dilly dally - tickets are on sale now from Undertheradar.

There will be an art market curated by Mouthfull, merch for sale and lawn bowls for the sporting pros out there.

Kids aged 13 and under get in free.

All ages are welcome.
