Premiere: Transistor Unveil Single / Video 'Contextualise'

Premiere: Transistor Unveil Single / Video 'Contextualise'

Annabel Kean / Friday 15th January, 2021 8:47AM

Pōneke psych-pop tykes Transistor apparently didn't take a breather after dropping their EP Lights Form One To The Sun three weeks back, and have launched right into releasing a new clutch of tunes on the very same day they embark on their biggest tour yet. The absolute mad men hit their stride and find their groove in catchy lead cut 'Contextualise', sounding crisp af beneath relatively concerning lyrics that could either be a hex or someone's death bed ramblings. The visuals are appropriately warped too, created by Secret Knives' Ash Smith aka Euphoric Co., who's created clips for Borrowed cs., Shocking Pinks and Jon Lemmon. Smith has made programmed filters look better than I could have ever imagined, and paired the coordinated chaos with perfectly weighted, simple black lines and borders. Chefs kiss.

The band begin their Extending Vision summer tour tonight in Ōtepoti with newcomers and frequent giggers Bathysphere. The Transistor three are not to be missed, providing sweltering summery tunes that'll make you say "Tame Impala who?". Dates and tickets here, and their brand new three track drop below, also including the pulsing 'Flickering Candle' and an instrumental version of the title track...
