Sleaford Mods Share New Album 'Spare Ribs'

Chris Cudby / Friday 15th January, 2021 1:21PM

Think back to a mythical time, when overseas bands would journey all the way to Aotearoa and play "international headline shows". Kind of hard to believe in today's Covid-saturated world, but I was there and witnessed first-hand Nottingham's mighty Sleaford Mods tear the Powerstation a new one, at their already legendary Tāmaki Makaurau gig last summer. Fans ought to be well chuffed with Jason Williamson and Andrew Fearn sixth studio album Spare Ribs, the endlessly scathing duo's latest commentary on the decline of western civilisation, this time around sporting guest contributions from Billy Nomates and Amy Taylor of Melbourne punks Amyl and the Sniffers. Not content with simply pointing out what's fucked up about the world, Williamson and Fearn's blend of fiercely political spoken wordplay and off-kilter loops continues to sound genuinely innovative — making up their own rules on recent singles 'Mork n Mindy' (which hit the top spot of the UK vinyl charts), 'Nudge It' and the eleven more fresh tunes on offer. Read Taylor MacGregor's (Moral Support, Party Dad) chinwag with Williamson for UTR here and get your grubby mitts all over Sleaford Mods' Spare Ribs via the stream below...
