Newtown Festival 2021 Postponed To April

Much to the disappointment of the legions of artists and attendees (including myself) planning to travel to Pōneke this coming weekend for Newtown Festival 2021, the mammoth multi-stage community extravaganza was required to postpone due to the looming threat of Covid-19 restrictions. Heroically, the organisers have arranged a brand new date for the festival, which is now set to occur on Sunday 11th April — still proudly sporting 420 stalls and 15 stages. We imagine the work involved in rescheduling such a large event at short notice would be positively Herculean in scale, here's words from the 25th annual Newtown Festival's hard-working team...

"We’re so excited to announce that Newtown Festival 2021 is now confirmed for Sunday 11th April!

Our many collaborators, stallholders and artists have been amazing in rallying behind this new date. This is actually our 25th Newtown Festival in the street, and we’re grateful to get the chance to be able to celebrate this milestone! Expect to see many of the performers and stallholders you were looking forward to on our new date.

We're so touched by the outpouring of aroha and support towards a postponement. While we’ve been working through the logistics of this, there will be added costs.
