Spawts Unveil 'Clicks & Whistles' EP
Recorded with engineer Nick Moyle at his garage studio in Waiuku, the new five song EP from Tāmaki Makaurau's Spawts is brimming with off the cuff DIY energy. Undergoing a bit of a lineup shakeup since 2019's debut album AV1, Spawts' Kieran Ormandy and Jamie Hannah are joined on Clicks & Whistles by new core member Sam Austin, yet the band's knack for a catchy hook remains untouched. Including recent student radio hit 'Headroom' packaged with four more fresh tunes, Spawts whip up a sonically diverse, guitar-driven storm encompassing hazy shoegaze and bruising post-punk / rock, with Ormandy's existential lyricism touching on "self sabotage, expired circumstances & broken friendships."
