At some point in October last year, Bathysphere got together in a Dunedin hallway somewhere and live tracked their debut album in one day, and now we get to hear the hearty Heaven Is Other People in full. The band's lead single 'Window' clued us into what Bathysphere was all about — a shoegazy collaborative brainchild of Trace / Untrace Records founders Julie Dunn and Richard Ley-Hamilton (Asta Rangu, Males), Josh Nicholls (Koizilla, Space Bats Attack, Asta Rangu, Fazed On A Pony) and Peter McCall (Fazed On A Pony). Whether or not it was intentional, Heaven Is Other People arrives just in time to soundtrack moody, hands-in-pockets strolls through shin-high autumn leaves, made all the more romantic by Bathysphere's gut-punching guitar on tracks like 'Layout', 'Codeine' and 'Sleep In'. Recorded and mixed by Zac Nicholls, and mastered by De Stevens, the debut offering from Bathysphere delivers far beyond what you'd expect from an impromptu hallway studio...
