Bridge City Beat Down Announced: Metal Festival + Medieval Cage Fighting
I can barely believe it, but the perfect music festival is happening this May in humble Hamilton and it's called Bridge City Beat Down. For less than a crispy fifty you get: Sets from twelve North Island metal bands, five pro wrestling matches, ten medieval cage fights, a retro multiplayer game lounge, something called 'Dragon Bath Worx' and a VR experience. There's something for everyone, and that's coming from a person who isn't exactly a metahead, but I think Bridge City Beat Down might just be my gateway drug. An event by weirdos, for weirdos -those who like their music a bit on the heavy and complicated side. Featuring an eclectic twelve band line up from around the North Island including: Pull Down the Sun, Mega Maw, Pale Flag, Achilles Complex, Freaky Meat, Downfall of Humanity, Chasing South, Static, JP Drag Kings, the First Child, Qualms and Threat.Meet.Protocol.
What’s happening between acts you ask? Well, we’ve got six slamming Prowrestling matches provided by Heathen Combat and a number of Armoured Medieval Duels courtesy of Waikato Armoured Combat. Feel like a break? Step into the lobby to enjoy one of six retrovideo game installations including: Crash Team Racing Tekken 3 and Street Fighter II. Not your cup of tea? How does a Virtual Reality experience sound? Auaha Maker Space is bringing along their VR setup for you to enjoy.
