Carb On Carb and shannengeorgiapetersen Tour Announced

Annabel Kean / Monday 24th May, 2021 11:39AM

Two of Papaiti Records' finest are linking up this June and July for a five stop nationwide tour. Broody Tāmaki-based duo Carb On Carb and the solo project of Shannen Petersen (fruit juice parade, Sports Dreams) shannengeorgiapetersen hit the road for the first time since the world isolated en masse, each with new songs to share. Carb On Carb have two unreleased tracks up their sleeve, the first since their blissful 2018 EP for ages, and will be releasing single 'Here Comes the Best Bit' the week before the tour begins with an all ages Tuning Fork show. Petersen has new tune 'Home Again 4' out later this week too, having previously rolled out her mini covers collection rough as guts 1 last year. Press Release:

Aotearoa's eminent emo duo Carb on Carb are stoked to be hitting the road again for their first tour since covid-19. They will be joined at all five shows by Wellington's breath of fresh air shannengeorgiapetersen. Kicking off with an all ages show at Auckland's The Tuning Fork, the tour also hits Wellington, Palmerston North, Blenheim and Christchurch.

Carb on Carb, or James (drums) and Nicole (guitar, vocals), have taken New Zealand emo to the world and then brought it back. After taking 2020 slow and giving time to other projects (Nicole with Girls Rock! Aotearoa and James with Papaiti Records), the band are back and amped to be touring again. Earlier this year, at all-ages landmark The Stomach, the band recorded two new tracks with Harry Lilley. As with For Ages, Carb on Carb worked with emo legend Chris Teti (The World is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die) as mix engineer. The first of these new songs, Here Comes the Best Bit, is due out June 11.

Shannen Georgia Petersen is best known as one half of the pride of Palmerston North fruit juice parade, whose recent single made #1 on the national SRN radio chart. Shannen has been playing shows here and there under her own name since 2016, some as intricate unravellings on the Synthstrom Deluge, others as plaintive acoustic guitar sets. This tour and the release of her first single Home Again 4 on May 28 however mark the coalescing of this project into something more - appearing on this tour with a backing band of familiar faces.
