Tāmaki Makaurau's DEB5000 are taking over with their post-apocalyptic debut single 'RATS', out today via Aotearoa subterranean punk / metal imprint Wrought Material. While we've been teased mercilessly in the past for our overuse of the word "supergroup," that term definitely applies to DEB5000 so rack off already, as the four-piece's membership includes Jessica Dew (Ralph, Kitsunegari), Steph Stuteley (Punchbowl, Cult of the Cobra, Natural Glow), Nicole Gaffney (Carb on Carb, Bitchmagic, Mammal Airlines, Moron Says What) and Ciara Bernstein (No Brainers, Blame Thrower, Dateless)! Drawing inspiration from 1984 Italian horror film Rats: Night of Terror, DEB5000 whip up an alley-dwelling nightmare of untamed punk rock riffage and fever dream lyrical imagery that'll make you never trust your boyfriend / partner again. Even if you think rats are cute, DEB5000 will send you squirming for cover (then crawling back for more).
