Liam Finn's Hyperverse - New Solo Album Live Shows + Streaming Series Announced

Now that Crowded House's new album Dreamers Are Waiting is finally out and topping charts across the globe, recent recruit Liam Finn is setting his sights on what creative mountain to climb next. He's announced his most ambitious solo project yet, the snazzily titled Liam Finn's Hyperverse — inviting us all to literally join him on the journey to his just-announced and long-awaited fourth solo album.

Returning to his 'anything goes' roots as a one-man-band, Finn is kicking off a brand new streaming series on Twitch, starting today (!) and going live twice per week for the next eight weeks, offering everyone who tunes in "an intimate ringside view of his songwriting and recording process as the new album takes shape in real time." The series will conclude with three intimate evening events at Tāmaki Makaurau's Roundhead Studios, where Finn will track the album live onto analogue tape (with no digital safety net) in front of a strictly limited capacity crowd. Who knows what could happen along the way of Finn's daring creative venture — as composer Danny Elfman stated in our interview last week: "You know if you take your gambles your chances of getting something really great is better." Now one-fifth of the global phenomenon that is Crowded House, Aotearoa New Zealand's Liam Finn has announced a thrilling new solo project named Liam Finn’s Hyperverse — daring us all to join him on the journey towards his long-awaited fourth studio album.

From June 14th Finn kicks off an innovative online streaming series, offering an intimate ringside view of his songwriting and recording process as the new album takes shape in real time, live on Twitch twice per week. The Liam Finn’s Hyperverse series will conclude with three limited capacity events at Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland's Roundhead Studios from August 11th to 13th — where Finn will perform his freshly composed music for the first time while tracking it onto two-inch tape (with no digital safety net), to a live studio audience that includes members of the public. In an audacious, unprecedented, and vulnerable move Finn’s writing and recording process for the album is set to be witnessed by audiences online and in-studio, Liam Finn’s Hyperverse is not to be missed.

Channeling the electrifying live energy of his one-man-band show that launched his solo career (with indelible performances on Late Show With David Letterman and Later... With Jools Holland), Finn will be embracing the unknown, letting the improvisational magic flow and cooking up a bold new collection of tunes.
