Co-founder of Te Whanganui-a-Tara's perennially popular The Phoenix Foundation, fans of Luke Buda will be over the moon with the announcement of his first solo album in 12 years Buda, heading our way on 15th October. Perhaps named in reference to his famously gusty hometown, lead single 'Here Comes The Wind' is indeed an auspicious return from the capital city dwelling artist. The song sweeps listeners away in dreamy waves of guitar-pop gloriousness, closed out spectacularly by a solo that'll transport your mind to other realms, with Buda singing words supplied by New Zealand novelist Damien Wilkins.

Sounding both starry-eyed and a tad world-weary, 'Here Comes The Wind' is accompanied by eye-zapping psychedelic projected visuals (check out the great Buda logo design), sporting VHS FX by Greg Hodgson and Bryson Rooney on DOP / editing duties, created with the support of NZ On Air. Keeping the vibe right on the track are Riki Neihana Gooch on drums, Anita Clark (Motte, who sung on every track on the album) on violin and vocals and William Ricketts on percussion, while the long player will also feature guest contributions from Don McGlashan, Joe Lindsay and Toby Laing from Fat Freddys Drop, Dayle Jellyman, Jacqui Nyman and all the members of The Phoenix Foundation. Describing his forthcoming record as "a collection of songs mostly recorded in his garage over the last three years," Buda will be celebrating the single's launch in style at Tāmaki's The Wine Cellar on 8th July with Dream Chambers, the ethereal electronic project of Jess Chambers.

Luke Buda notes on the creation of 'Here Comes The Wind': "Once the words were there, everything else fell into place. I knew I wanted it to be an epic guitar journey and it was incredibly fun to just go for it and play a fully indulgent guitar solo. It’s like a good cheese board at the end of the meal, almost too much, but so satisfying."
