deepState Drops Lush Downtempo Track 'Redux'
The latest single from Tāmaki electronic whizz deepState immediately calmed my mind and eased my headache upon listening - I think it might just be that 'one weird trick' we've all been looking for. 'Redux' is the third drop from Jessica Morgan's debut deepState EP MMXXI, which will be out in full on Auckland imprint Sunreturn in just a couple of weeks. This new cut follows opening track 'Sunrise', and launches straight into some fresh as hell rain and bird sounds, like the deepState version of roaming through a tropical jungle, barefoot, third eye all the way open. Morgan says 'Redux' is her "ode to 90s Downtempo, which used an emphasis on low tempo beats paired with ambient atmospheres", an influence she says runs through the whole EP, along with Trip-Hop and Witch House. If you missed deepState's Wine Cellar set last night, you've got two chances to right that wrong this month — find out when, where and how below, and enjoy a moment of peace with their latest tune 'Redux'...
