Ade & Connan Mockasin Unveil Album 'It's Just Wind' + Documentary
Warned by a clairvoyant to get cracking on a long ruminated musical project with his dad "or you’ll regret it for the rest of your life", Aotearoa man of mystery Connan Mockasin bought pop Ade Hosford a ticket to Marfa, Texas to begin recording It's Just Wind. Out now alongside short film It's Just Wind: The Old Man Records An Album In Marfa, the collection is distinctly Mockasin, with Ade providing charming spoken word - sometimes improvised, sometimes from his book stealthily titled 'Poetry' instead of 'Lyrics' to throw off the Visa Police. The final result, recorded over one of Connan Mockasin's yearly artist residencies at Mexican Summer’s Marfa Myths festival, is an opus fifty odd years in the making for Ade, whose only evidence of his band The Autumn Stone is some damaged master tapes from the 1970s. Happy 72nd birthday Ade and congratulations on It's Just Wind.
Ade: "It’s primarily a story about a guy who was born in London, England, and came to New Zealand as a young child ... just a matter of survival basically, a story of some guy surviving in a new land".
Friday 30th July - Connan Mockasin Unplugged, Bost'n 'n Dobs'n Plugged, Hollywood Theatre (Elemental Nights)
