Currently residing in Tāmaki Makaurau, tearer-upper of dancefloors Strange Stains aka Aimee M warns "Don't you dare turn out to be a man baby" in their dazzling video for club anthem 'Man Bb'. Reflecting on the very real dangers of dating in their storming new track, the electronic artist busts loose in a variety of snazzy outfits throughout director Laura Duffy's fabulously DIY clip — filmed at off-the-beaten-path urban locations, lit by car tail lights and even phones. Strange Stains kindly gave us the full scoop...

"Even though the song has a serious message the video was soooo much fun to make, a lot of laughs. We used my car tail lights and our phone torches for the lightning. The car’s battery ran out, but after the quick thinking of Georgette Brown and an awesome zoomy driver we were back to it. Laura edited it with Capricornia efficiency and we were so happy with how it turned out. Strange Stains character is a slutty business person that is demanding a reasonable contract. As an ia non-binary bb Aimee wanted to respond to the cis men not questioning themselves being shirtless, by being shirtless. Strange Stains believes everyone should be shirtless if they want to be, and not if they don’t want to be.

Man Bb was first played on a tour in China supporting Womb, with manager and musician Kristen Ng: Kaishandao and Laura Duffy was Vjing for us. It became the group's end of the night dancing track and was always such a joy to play to them as they danced and yelled the lyrics with me. So it was an extra heart filled moment when two people had seen us on social media and then when we arrived at the gig and sung the lyrics, ohhhh it was so awesome.

Laura Duffy asked to make the video which was amazing because Aimee (AKA Strange Stains) just loves Laura’s work. Strange Stains had done the soundtrack to Laura’s exhibition piece !ERROR!, which is such a cool artwork."

Strange Stains is currently making a theatre piece called Com- Pash- Sion that will be in Te Whanganui-A-Tara at Meanwhile Gallery on the 19-21th August. Tickets + more info through the link in Strange Stains Instagram bio.
