Tidal Rave Unpeel New Single / Video 'Banana'
It's good times ahoy for Pōneke jangle / surf / fuzz-poppers Tidal Rave, who are just about to launch their snazzily titled new record Albumette in conjunction with an extensive release tour of Aotearoa this month and next. The six-piece have unpeeled today the delectably catchy second single from their album 'Banana', announced around lunchtime along with a fab vid directed by Hayley Theyers. Celebrating yet also questioning the role of the potassium-packed, smoothie-friendly fruit in Aotearoa's late capitalist culture, the creamy yellow clip for 'Banana' features the whole gang stacking those 'nanas high around the family breakfast table. Here's the full low down from Tidal Rave themselves...
"The theme of the song "Banana" - expressing both the enjoyment of the banana as a convenient and nourishing food, while also pondering ethical dilemmas about exploitative labour practices by large multi-national banana growers - expresses the pleasure / guilt dilemma of western consumption that many of us grapple with."
