Lake South Announces Album Release Tour + Shares Single 'New Bourgeoizealand (lucky)'
Pōneke alt-pop songwriter Lake South opts for twisted positivity on the lead track from his forthcoming third album The Light You Throw. As with the rest of the album, first taste 'New Bourgeoizealand (lucky)' was written in the height of lockdown and recorded about an hour North of their hometown at Waikawa beach. Named after and inspired by Richard Meros essay New Bourgeoizealand, the single is unapologetically sunny, until it's not. For all the singing in unison, hand clapping and trumpeting, on the end of each chorus is tacked "I think we’re falling apart, we were doomed from the start", which is perhaps Lake South's honest response to Meros' essay — but that's for you to decide.
An album written to be performed live, Lake South takes The Light You Throw and four-piece band on tour throughout October and November for a dozen spring shows. They'll be accompanied by Miles Sutton's latest project Welcomer for the bulk of the dates, with more support acts still to be announced. Details and tickets here...
