Listen To NahBo's Debut Album 'Ruptured'
"A release; a letting go; a shedding. A time to start again" — words from NahBo on their just released debut Ruptured, out today on Empty Goon Records. Based in Pōneke, Taranaki Ah Young-Grace (Ngāti Ruanui / Ngāti Tūwharetoa) has been writing and recording music as NahBo since dropping debut single 'Woof' in October last year, and before then with trio Whaea & The Rumble in Tāmaki Makaurau.
With their relocation to Te Whanganui-a-Tara, the new collection presents a culmination of fresh starts, stale endings and years of cathartic music making, using the medium to address colonisation, racism and personal battles. Between the heavy topics, NahBo weaves their sweet sweet neo-soul vocals and sharp witted bars, highlights including but not limited to "You hear me Karen your ancestors were trash, and I'll keep saying that 'til the system turns to ash" and "Used to be a fun guy, picking my shrooms by the roadside". From personal favourite 'Wide Eyed' to electronic pop punctuations 'Download' and 'Other Side', Ruptured is a bittersweet end to the latest era of NahBo...
NahBo's debut album 'Ruptured' is out now via Empty Goon Records.
