Substax Drop Single / Video 'Space Drift'
Tāmaki Makaurau's Substax, the breakbeat / electro soul duo of producer Nick Farrands (co-runner of boutique club night Videotech) and vocalist / producer Claudia Gunn, have unveiled the first in a new series of singles for 2021 with 'Space Drift'. Launched along with a hypnotic digitally animated visualiser clip, the tune draws sonic inspiration from the score and atmosphere of Ridley Scott's 1982 cyberpunk classic Blade Runner — evoking feelings of future-gazing expansiveness and better-than-life synthetic textures, while lyrically alluding to the masses of space junk zooming above our heads. Having played with the likes of Fat Freddy’s Drop, Pitch Black, Minuit and Rhian Sheehan, Substax are no doubt looking forward to performing live again soon — immerse your eyes and ears in the electronic dreaminess of 'Space Drift'...
