This is not a drill, Mitski has blessed us with a spicy new track and a god damn stunning cinematic video to boot. 'Working For The Knife' is the first we've heard (besides her contribution to The Turning soundtrack) from the US artist since her highly praised fifth album Be The Cowboy dropped in 2018. Directed by Zia Anger and DOP Ashley Connor, the 'Working For The Knife' visuals open on Mitski in the lift of iconic New York venue The Egg, donning a cowboy hat which she appropriately flicks off when she reaches her floor, along with her heels and a mimed cigarette. As the drama builds higher and the lead guitar grows wilder, Mitski makes her way to the stage for an epic thrusty performance, giving a bannister a very sexy lick on the way there - as one does in a pandemic. Read what Mitski had to say on the track, and get listening already...

“It’s about going from being a kid with a dream, to a grown up with a job, and feeling that somewhere along the way you got left behind. It’s being confronted with a world that doesn’t seem to recognize your humanity, and seeing no way out of it".

'Working For The Knife' is out now via major streaming services.
