Christoph El' Truento Shares New Album 'live from the cloudy subtropical'

Chris Cudby / Artwork: Pinky Fang / Monday 11th October, 2021 11:17AM

Aotearoa sonic adventurer Christoph El' Truento generously dishes up fourteen tasty cuts on the electronic producer's new album live from the cloudy subtropical. Weaving together blazed elements of hip hop, dub, exotica, fantastical funk, library music and whatever else he pleases into his tapestry of tunes, the Tāmaki artist's expansive long player could easily be confused with a lost classic from the '90s Mo Wax or Ninja Tune stables — keeping on an assuredly chill tip that's sure to be on-vibe with super city dwellers right now. That's not to say there aren't monster jams in the mix, 'animale horrifique' is an spacey excursion into warped jazz-funk, 'b-movie scenes' gets downright spooky as it brings the heat, and is 'fly guy' a nod to Curtis Mayfield's contribution to I'm Gonna Git You Sucka? It all adds up to absolute treat for your ears to explore or simply bask within like golden sunbeams, topped off with textural videos for every single track you need to watch over at El' Truento's Bandcamp page here (where you can grab a digital copy for a reasonable price) and also a specially made Instagram page here. Sounding not unlike a summer holiday in our own backyard, fire up live from the cloudy subtropical...
