Listen To The Shakin' Evil Hayride's 'Truck Drivin' Man / Six Days On The Road'
Evolved from "entirely hopeless" instrumental three-piece The Shakin’ Evil Limbo Party like some kind of Canterbury cowboy hat-wearing Pokémon, The Shakin' Evil Hayride star in the second edition of Ilam Press Records' Under The Covers series. Covering Terry Fell's 1954 tribute to those long-hauling kings of the road, 'Truck Drivin' Man' is a hootin' hollerin' knee-slapper from top to tail, while B-side 'Six Days on The Road' is a loving ramble through E. Green & C. Montgomery's 1963 rock and roll classic. Out now in a strictly limited vinyl 7" edition of only 30 copies, there's a wealth of contextual info provided in (Shakin') Luke Wood's accompanying essay on the release excerpted below — truck along to the Ilam Press Records Bandcamp page HERE for the full official lowdown...
"Well, when I was a kid the movie Smokey and The Bandit was a big deal. And trucks were cool. So were muscle cars and motorcycles, but trucks — especially customised ‘big rigs’ — were kinda like UFOs. All chrome and lights and thunder. And as well as movies, TV shows like BJ and The Bear romanticised life on the road as a truck driver."
