Hailing from Aotearoa and currently calling Melbourne home, Winter Casual is the solo recording project of JN (aka Joseph Nunweek, co-founder of culture website The Pantograph Punch), who casually launched a jumbo-packed self-titled offering earlier this week via Bandcamp. Incorporating a wide variety of sonic strategies, from subdued soundscapey excursions (calling to mind at times the monastic sci-fi vision of KITES) to catchy guitar-fuzz epics, spooked electronics, folk / psych meanderings and beyond, the eleven track collection ponders pressing issues that orbited the artist during the hectic period of time that was July 2020 to December 2021.
