Local Tourist Unveil Single 'I Am Water'
Launching their debut album in early April via Aotearoa independent stalwarts Melted Ice Cream, Local Tourist are US songwriter Erin Umstead with Ōtautahi's Joe Sampson (Salad Boys, T54) and Rory Dalley (Ben Woods Group). They recorded their long player together from 2019 to 2021 while Umstead was based in Canterbury, unveiling today the third in a spine-tingling run of singles for that record 'I Am Water'. A gently unfolding six minute epic, the ballad's jangle-folk reflections wash over listeners in waves like a slow-motion tsunami, as Umstead intones "your body calls / my body floats" — listen here...
