Premiere: Watch A Blunt Jester's Video For 'Hey (Featuring Kelly Sherrod)'

Helmed by Jay Barnett (Thorazine Shuffle, Second Child), A Blunt Jester has reemerged with 'Hey', the first official single from the Tāmaki electronic dance project since 2021's radio chart-topping banger 'Cat Door'. Featuring lead vocals by none other than Proteins Of Magic mastermind Kelly Sherrod, 'Hey' uses an arsenal of vintage synths and presumably boxy drum machine devices to whip up a bubbling cauldron of slap bass heavy grooves, pulsing textures and refreshingly crunchy guitars — sure to move bodies into frenzied shapes. The icing on the cake is a new DIY video for the song we're proud to premiere today, depicting a dazed, mask-wearing solo scenario no doubt familiar to super city dwellers during Auckland's weirdly empty early '22 era (I'm personally coveting that white Casio guitar, which has a built-in cassette player).

'Hey' appears on A Blunt Jester's very tidy fresh three track # EP, alongside superbly titled instrumental 'See You At Burgandys' and an All My Cats On The Dance Floor extended mix of 'Cat Door'. Currently based in Nashville, Tennessee, singer Sherrod will be returning to Aotearoa in September to perform as Proteins Of Magic for Dimmer's I Believe You Are A Star tour.
