Happening this coming May in sync with the forthcoming wave of NZ Music Month events, FromThePit 2022 celebrates the work of our gig photography community, those champions who fearlessly get amongst and document Aotearoa's vibrant live music culture as it happens. Curated by Dave Simpson, Stella Gardiner (both of whom have been contributing their superb snaps to UTR) and Chontalle Musson, this year's exhibition features the work of fifty photographers, plus complementary soundtrack works created by Kendall Elise, Rodney Fisher and Venice — launching online and on selected screens in physical spaces (including Rockshop) from May 2nd onwards. Presented in partnership with Auckland UNESCO City of Music, NZ Music Month, Independent Music NZ (IMNZ) and the New Zealand Music Commission, look out for more details to be revealed about FromThePit 2022 in the near future...

“This year’s music photography exhibition features rare moments of musical celebration taken over the last two years, during a time when the whole industry has been struggling... They offer a glimpse into what we’ve been missing and for what, we hope, is soon to return” - Dave Simpson

“We’re telling a story about the evening in images that makes someone that wasn’t there feel like they were.” - Chris Morgan (Morgan Creative)
