Georgia Lines Unveils Single / Video 'Leave Behind'

Rising Aotearoa songwriter Georgia Lines shares her first single and video of the year ‘Leave Behind’, ahead of a launch tour spanning Dunedin, Christchurch, Hamilton and her hometown Tauranga (at a secret location!) starting 11th May. Directed by Alexander Gandar and made with support from NZ On Air, with emotive choreography by Chelsea Jade, Lines’ vocals move in tandem with the delicate angles of her dance around a packed-up ballroom — entrancing us in a whirlwind of regret, memory and hindsight, which are often fragmented like the shards of a broken mirror and as confronting as an empty house. The soaring string section elevates Line’s sky-high vocals, giving us a small taste of how the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra will enhance her NZ Music Month event at Auckland War Memorial Museum on May 16th…

"‘Leave Behind’ is a song I wrote about losing my Grandfather suddenly two years ago... Growing up we spent a lot of time with my Grandparents and I have so many memories of their home and all the ‘things’; the ornaments, the crystal glasses, the platters and collections that they used to have through their home. When my Poppa passed away we had to sell and get rid of everything that we couldn’t keep, which was a hard part of the grieving process and a huge part of letting him go.” — Georgia Lines
