With more than thirty years of experience under his belt, Boogie Monster is revered worldwide by those in the know both as a vinyl collecting heavyweight and for his impeccably selected, dancefloor-igniting mixes — serving up a full spectrum of soul, jazz, funk, disco, boogie, gospel, garage, house and techno deep cuts. "I've known Alex since the early 90's when he walked into my shop, Reckless Records in SoHo. I recognised him instantly (who couldn't!) and he brought a stack up to the counter which I was quite surprised at because they were all records I had in my collection; House + Techno but real quality stuff. We started conversing about music and I was taken aback by his knowledge and impressed by his taste. Fast forward 10-12 years, the advent of the internet brought us back together again via music, but this time the genres had changed...... now we were talking Disco, Northern Soul, Funk & Boogie. Yet again I was surprised that an Aussie knew so much about this shit! I still have an in depth email he put together about certain Disco / Modern Soul / Northern Soul records he reviewed which I knew hardly anything about. Since then he has continued to amass a collection which I reckon no one in the Southern hemisphere can rival, because if there was someone out there we would know about it.
