Listen To P.H.F.'s New Album 'PUREST HELL'
Recorded and released in dedication to close friend and collaborator Reuben Winter (Milk, Totems), P.H.F. aka Joe Locke has today shared PUREST HELL, his tenth (!) official album counting last year's Unplugged. The Tāmaki Makaurau artist folds in ideas from his recent output as Autocell and NO-CLIP (Locke's project with Roy Irwin) into an emotionally powerful, genre-obliterating blend of volcanic guitar anthems, celestial ballads and breakbeat-fuelled electronica, like angels and demons at play on the same stage — even embracing blown-out doom metal textures on the mega heavy 'NO1 TRIES' featuring REW, a move I don't believe we've heard from P.H.F. before. Every P.H.F. record is a winner, but this new one is a WINNER if you catch my drift, raising the bar terrifically high in its non-stop inventiveness and open-eared approach to song creation. U.S. fans are in for a treat when Locke finally hits stages stateside again in June, listen up here...
'PUREST HELL' is out today via Danger Collective Records, vinyl and cassette orders available HERE.
