As if we weren't already spoilt for TE KAAHU loveliness following her charming Trash Recital episode with band and the release of fabulous debut album TE KAAHU O RANGI, the reo Māori project of Theia (Waikato-Tainui, Ngāti Tīpa) shares a new visual treat to accompany single ‘Taupiri’, animated by Karin Yamasaki. Named for her ancestral mountain, TE KAAHU explained "It was important to me that whoever took on the job of animating this waiata, understood the unbreakable bond I, and many of my iwi, have with our maunga", a task expertly executed by Yamasaki, who's paired the hushed tones of 'Taupiri' with a thoughtful series of delightful, textured illustrations.

You can catch TE KAAHU performing her stunning waiata as part of Matariki celebrations later this month at Auckland's The Tuning Fork, joined by soul / funk artist MOHI (Te Tai Tokerau, Tauranga Moana and Ngāti Kahungunu ki Te Wairoa) and neo-soul songwriter HINA (Te Rarawa, Ngāti Raukawa).
