Spotlight: Hahko Presents A Night With PollyHill
Tāmaki-based podcaster and producer Hahko aka Isaac McFarlane presents two shows this winter as part of his popular A Night With... series, featuring super city hip hop artist PollyHill and Ōtautahi bedroom pop songwriter Pickle Darling next on the lineup. Coming up on 30th June at Auckland's Whammy Bar and 7th July at Christchurch's Space Academy respectively, each evening will feature an intimate performance, conversation and audience Q&A. Ahead of the coming events, Hahko invited PollyHill aka Paloma Schneideman to share a formative musical memory — nab tickets while you can for Thursday's show and read on...
“I think one of my earliest music memories, actually it’s not that early, I was about 12, and I’d play music I’d illegally downloaded on LimeWire, at the same time as recorded VHS’s of Juice TV or Top Of The Pops. I’d try to align them to like the particular sections of the song to make a new song…. I guess I was trying to like produce, without knowing that’s what I was trying to do. I remember playing like Lil' Kim against Bob Dylan (lol horrible pairing) but trying to make a new sound and being so excited at the potential of genre bending.” — PollyHill
