Listen To The Pleasure Majenta's New Album 'Looming, The Spindle'

Chris Cudby / Monday 18th July, 2022 2:01PM

Berlin-based Aotearoa ne'er do wells The Pleasure Majenta have unleashed their new full length offering Looming, The Spindle via US imprint Dedstrange, founded by Death By Audio and APTBS's Oliver Ackermann (also home to cyberpunk duo Data Animal). True to their word, the goth-punk group's ten track record does indeed feel like "the pain soaked album so many albums want to be, but miss the mark" — a soul-searing sledgehammer of distorted guitars, dreamscape synths, queasy sax tooting and post-industrial percussion, fronted by Lawrence Fergus Goodwin's gravelly croon and unhinged yowls. A pitch black, rough as guts sonic journey that somehow feels uplifting despite the bleakness, multi-instrumentalist Goodwin is joined on the long player by bandmates EJ (on bass, keys and backing vox), drummer Sophia Lawler-Dormer, Anna Winslow, Jong-Yun Lee, Aaron Longville and Maja Land, finding weird elegance in dread and decay. Experience wild official live footage of the band performing 'Anxious Patient' at last week's record release party and smash play below...

'Looming, The Spindle' is out now via Dedstrange.
